First impressions are extremely important.
첫인상은 정말 중요해요.
First impressions, in my opinion, are extremely important.
Although we're taught not to judge a book by its cover, this is quite hard to do in reality because we so naturally formulate some sort of opinion about someone that we've just met. Of course it would be nice to sit down with
someone that you've just met and have a conversation and ask them a lot of questions about themselves.
And perhaps the more time you spend together, the more relaxed and comfortable the other party would feel as
well, and all of this would change your first impression of them. But unfortunately we're not always
in such situations. For example, in job interviews, you only have a select number of minutes to convey
your personality, your mindset, and your entire aura.
And unfortunately this is very challenging, especially for people who feel rather shy and awkward talking to
new people.

Although we shouldn't jump to conclusions too quickly, I still think first impressions are really important.
너무 성급하게 결론을 내리면 안 되지만, 저는 그래도 첫인상이 정말 중요하다고 생각해요.

사람을 겉모습만 보고 판단하지 말라고 배우지만, 현실에서는 꽤 어려운 일이에요.
because we so naturally formulate some sort of opinion about someone that we've just met.
왜냐하면 우리는 이제 막 만난 사람에 대해서 정말 자연스럽게 의견을 형성하기 때문이에요.
*배우다

우리는 시를 비평하는 법을 배웠다.

First impressions are always important because most people can't see past them(first impressions). Be a good actor.
*see past /cannot see past
//People don't see past their looks.
사람들은 그들의 옛 모습은 보지 않는다.
They can't see past = The can't see beyond.
To see past [something]
Means to overlook [ignore] a fault or hindrance in someone or some situation and concentrate on seeing their good qualities.
//
A: Why did she leave you?
B: I can get really possessive sometimes, and she didn’t like that.
A: People can see past that. (People should ignore your possessiveness.)
Cannot see past [something]
You now need to know the idiom “cannot see past [something]” means a person is unable to reason further and perhaps even unable to discuss things further. In other words...
//He’s so blinded by the thing he believes in. He can’t see past the reasons why others are disagreeing with him. It’s like he’s just ignoring their reasons and the problem will just go away on its own.
We all have fixed ideas that stops us from reasoning further, and this is often on controversial matters (e.g. capital punishment, abortion, immigration, etc). Anyone who can’t see past something might just keep supporting his/her position but unable to accept or even hear the arguments of those who disagree. You get the general idea now.
Cannot see past the end of [his/her/their] nose
Not strictly what you’re asking for, but this idiom with a related meaning to the above (cannot see past).
This idiom means a person is so preoccupied with oneself and one's situation as to become unaware (even uncaring) of other people or the bigger picture in life. In other words, a person who often fails to foresee likely consequences. It suggests a closed mind, stupidity or imprudence.

이 방송은 정말 너무 유익하다!!
40대인 지금,
중학교 때부터 영어를 좋아하는 1인으로서,
손 놓지 않고 꾸준히 즐기면서 공부해왔다고 생각하는데,
그래도 아직 부족한 것이 너무 많고.. 리스닝이 힘들 때가 많다.
그 원인을 찾기까지 참 많은 길을 다녀야 했고,
그렇게 해서 알게 된 이 프로그램!!
참 고맙다!!
감사합니다^---^V
